Jorge Roy Sobrino

Mérida, Yucatán , 1959

Better known as Roy. He coordinated children's art workshops in Quintana Roo and Yucatán, from which he published two artistic books with drawings by children from both entities. A tireless traveler, he has been to Europe and has received a scholarship for the events Experimentations and emergencies in the visual arts, their production and distribution (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Aranjuez, Spain) and International Forum of experts in contemporary art (Madrid, Spain ). He has exhibited in Valencia, Tenerife, Spain, Chaumont, France, Santiago de Chile, Marrakech, Morocco, Havana, Cuba, Cozumel, Florida (USA), Chichén Itzá, Uxmal, Dzibilchaltún and of course, in various galleries in Merida. He is the author of the book Felipe Carrillo Puerto through the imagination, richly illustrated, which has been published in three editions. From his exhibition Seven Visions of Contemporary Art (2003), we were surprised by his foray into wood sculpture, which, apparently, he has managed to master.
