Omar Said
Born in CDMX in 1980. He studied at the Active School of Photography, the Image Center, at the Art Film School 7 and a Bachelor of Arts Education at the Higher School of Arts of Yucatán, ESAY. His work has been presented in various museums, galleries and public spaces in Senegal, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Taiwan, the United States, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Belize, Cuba and Mexico.
Among its recognitions are: Production Grant from the Municipal Fund for the Visual Arts Yucatán (2019), Residencia Cruzada Yucatán-Pays de la Loire, SEDECULTA-FRAC, Regional Fund for Contemporary Art, Carquefou, France (2015), Honorable Mention in the VII, VI and I National Biennial of Visual Arts of Yucatán (2015, 2013 and 2002), Mexico-Argentina Artistic Residence, FONCA - Ministry of Culture of the Argentine Nation (2014). Founding member of FrontGround / Galería Manolo Rivero (2007-17) and member of the FotoBuzón project, Movement of Public Photography (2010-16). Since 2018 he works as head of the Photography Workshop [Image Laboratory] of ESAY.
