Irma Palacios, born Guerrero, México in 1943, Irma Palacios is an abstract painter and contemporary graphic artist. Her work stands out for its strength and sensitivity, for the use of color, matter and signs, maintains a strong relationship with the earth and the elements of nature, as well as for experimentation with non-traditional means, very typical of the Spanish informalism. Her work has earned her the Simon Guggenheim scholarship and the scholarship of the National System of Creators, in addition to having received the award for the first broadcast of the Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial. Her first individual exhibition was held at La Casa del Lago in Mexico City in 1980, which was followed by: "The Signs of Silence" in 1984, "Mineral Mirage", at the Museum of Modern Art of the City from Mexico in 1993, "Mineral Mirage" at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santiago de Chile in 1994, "Naturalezas" at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Oaxaca in 1994, "Open Earth", which was presented at the Libertad Gallery in Querétaro and who traveled to the Aguascalientes Museum of Fine Arts, Cabañas Cultural Institute, Manuel Felguérez Museum of Abstract Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Yucatán from 2000 to 2001. Likewise, she has exhibited her work in various museums and international cultural spaces in the United States, Cuba, Chile, Argentina, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Bulgaria, Italy, United Arab Emirates, among others. She has been a special guest in the United Arab Emirates and her work is part of various public and private collections.
