Jorge Yázpik. Born in Mexico City, Jorge Yazpik's work has been shown in almost forty individual exhibitions in cultural spaces and museums in Mexico and the world. He has carried out various interventions in public spaces in Mexico City such as the thirty-six benches located in the Historic Center, the piece of volcanic rock located at the access to the Faculty of Architecture on the UNAM Campus and the work composed of several concrete pieces located in the premises of the Postgraduate course in Industrial Design at UNAM. His work arises from the interest of research with materials and forms that are the means to explore sensations. Volcanic rock, marble, obsidian, granite, jade, wood, iron, light, emptiness, water, lines, geometry, high contrast are the means with which he works. From this research have emerged from designs for public squares to oil paintings, engravings, object designs and sculptures.
