Patrick Pettersson obtained a BA in Visual Arts from the University of Texas, Austin (1994) and a MA from UNAM (1997). He was the winner of the VIII FEMSA Monterrey Biennial. He has represented Mexico at the ARCO 2005 fair (Madrid), with Mexico as the guest country, and at the I Biennial of Young Art in Moscow. His work has been exhibited in important cultural institutions in Mexico such as the National Museum of San Ildefonso, the National Center for the Arts, the José Vasconcelos National Library and the Fundidora de Monterrey Park. Internationally, his work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Moscow, the Contemporary Art Foundation in The Hague, the Embassy of Mexico in Germany and the Institute of Mexico in Spain, among others. Flora Filosófica, his current project, takes up notions of the landscape and botany of the 19th century within the contemporary discourse of painting, adding various techniques of representation such as woodcuts and drawing. Versions of this project have been exhibited in the Quetzalli (Oaxaca) and Nina Menocal (Mexico City) galleries.
