Erick Pacaya

Erick is a self-taught painter. Her main inspiration is from her family's hometown, San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, and her grandmother, who was a village healer. Her work focuses on personal stories and political issues, her play on painting patterns taken from her grandmother's house where she grew up. His grandmother's floor was made of tiles that he collected from the streets and together they formed a series of colors and patterns that inspire Erick's work today. Erick's work is a weed of colors that form something surreal and mystical. Erick's work is quickly being recognized in Mexico and internationally, in recent years he has exhibited his work throughout Mexico and in international galleries in Ecuador, Canada, the United States and the Philippines.
