Francisco Toledo, 1940 - 2019. A versatile Mexican artist, a man committed to his indigenous origins, he has been the main promoter of the defense of the artistic heritage of the state of Oaxaca. Considered the most outstanding artist in the country, who has worked with extraordinary colorism in oil, gouache and fresco, as well as lithography, engraving, tapestry design, ceramics or sculpture in stone, wood and wax, always seeking renew forms and techniques. In 1998 he received the National Prize for Sciences and Arts. In 2000, Prince Claus. In 2005, he was recognized with the Right Livelihood Award for his commitment to protecting the Oaxaca community.
