Francisco Castro Leñero born in Mexico City, 1954. He studied painting at the La Esmeralda National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving of the National Institute of Fine Arts, from 1975 to 1979. He was a Graphic Design fellow in Urbino, Italy, from 1976 to 1977, as well as another for the production of a lithograph at ENBA La Esmeralda, from 1980 to 1981. Since 1982 he has worked as a drawing teacher at the School of Plastic Arts, Xochimilco, at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM. His work has been exhibited internationally in solo and group exhibitions at the Museum of the Americas in Puerto Rico; the Mexican Institute of Fine Arts, Chicago; the Rufino Tamayo Museum; the Museum of Contemporary Art; and the Hudson River Museum, New York City. Since 1999 he is part of the National System of Art Creators, FONCA. Statement His work is abstract expressionism, creating, in addition to painting, sculpture and graphic works. Castro Leñero's work shows us his preference for color, lines, geometric shapes, close to conceptual minimalism.
