PABLO LLANA: Alto en calorías

Pablo Llana

Fried and candy wrappers, plastic containers and other disposable materials are repeated and repeated, they agglomerate, they cake. Its bright colors are unmistakable: behind the bright yellow or fiery red, trans fats, excess sodium, sugars are hidden ...

But in this case the food is gone, it is gone. Its containers, indiscreet testimonies of what was its precious packaging today remain as revealing traces of the habitual consumption of junk food in the Mexican diet. And Pablo Llana has found in them his own language for the artistic transition between the object and the idea.

High in calories is the name of the sample that today proposes a critical reading of consumption habits from the waste of this same practice. In this selection of pieces, Llana's style is visible: creative action becomes disruptive and the force of language is added to it. Far from considering himself an art activist (they have already described him that way, as an artivist). Pablo says that his desire is simply to communicate, through the objects he produces, what is evident to him. A reality that accompanies us with its voracity, as natural as it is cannibalistic.
